Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 21, 2026. What personal information this site collects, why, and the choices you have about it.

This policy explains how Clemence Kotoku (“I”, “me”, “my”) collects, uses and protects personal information when you visit clemencekotoku.com, get in touch, subscribe to my newsletter or buy something from the site. I keep it short and plain on purpose. If anything is unclear, email me at info@clemencekotoku.com.

Who is responsible for your information

I am an independent web designer, developer and digital marketer based in Ghana, and I am responsible for the personal information collected through this site. You can reach me about anything in this policy at info@clemencekotoku.com.

What I collect

Information you give me

Enquiries. When you use the contact form: your name, email address, company or brand, what you need help with, your project details, your approximate budget and when you would like to start.

Newsletter. When you subscribe: your email address.

Purchases. When you buy a digital product or service: your name, email address, billing details and what you ordered. Payments are handled by third-party payment processors. I never see or store your full card details.

Accounts. If you create an account to access your orders and downloads: your login details and order history.

Messages. Anything you choose to send me by email or social media.

Information collected automatically

When you visit the site, some information is collected automatically: your device and browser type, the pages you view, how you arrived at the site and your approximate location based on your IP address. Where you allow it through the cookie banner, analytics and advertising tools (such as Google Analytics or the Meta Pixel, where they are enabled) help me understand how the site is used and measure my own marketing.

How I use it

To reply to your enquiry and discuss your project.

To deliver what you buy, send receipts and download links, and provide support.

To send the newsletter you asked for. Every email has an unsubscribe link.

To understand how the site is used and make it better.

To measure and improve my own advertising, only where you have allowed marketing cookies.

To keep the site secure and prevent fraud or abuse.

To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.

I rely on your consent (for the newsletter and for analytics and marketing cookies), on the need to take steps you asked for or perform a contract with you (enquiries and purchases), on my legitimate interest in running and protecting the site, and on legal obligations where they apply. You can withdraw consent at any time.

Cookies

The site uses a small number of essential cookies so that things like the cart, checkout and your account work. Analytics and marketing cookies are only used if you accept them in the cookie banner, and you can change your choice at any time. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, although some parts of the site may then stop working properly.

Who I share it with

I don’t sell your personal information. I only share it with the service providers I need to run the site and my business, and only for that purpose:

Hosting, database, storage and security providers that keep the site running.

Payment processors that take payments for purchases.

Email providers that deliver enquiries, receipts and the newsletter.

Analytics and advertising platforms, where you have allowed those cookies.

Professional advisers, or authorities where the law requires it.

Some of these providers are based outside Ghana. Where your information is transferred abroad, I use providers that protect it to a standard consistent with this policy.

How long I keep it

I keep enquiries for as long as we are in conversation and for a reasonable period afterwards, in case we work together later. Purchase records are kept for as long as tax and accounting rules require. Newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe. When information is no longer needed, I delete it or make it anonymous.

How I protect it

The site is served over an encrypted connection, access to personal information is restricted, and I use reputable providers with their own security measures. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but I take reasonable steps to protect your information and act quickly if something goes wrong.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

ask for a copy of the personal information I hold about you;

ask me to correct information that is wrong or incomplete;

ask me to delete your information;

object to, or ask me to limit, how I use it;

withdraw your consent at any time, including by unsubscribing from the newsletter.

To use any of these rights, email info@clemencekotoku.com. I may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request. If you are not happy with how I have handled your information, you can also complain to your local data protection authority. In Ghana, that is the Data Protection Commission.

Other websites

The site links to other websites, including client projects, my products and social media. I am not responsible for how those sites handle your information, so please read their privacy policies.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 16, and I don’t knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given me their information, please contact me and I will delete it.

Changes to this policy

I may update this policy when the site or the law changes. The date at the top shows when it was last updated. If a change is significant, I will make that clear on the site.
